The Rev. Matthew John Moretz grew up in Augusta, Georgia where he was baptized at the Church of the Good Shepherd and was a student at the parish’s Episcopal Day School. He discerned a call to the priesthood after his undergraduate work at Davidson College.
Matthew then worked as the Christian Education Director of Christ Church, Frederica in St. Simon’s Island, Georgia. While attending the General Theological Seminary in New York City, he served as an intern at St. Bart’s for two years.
Matthew was ordained in 2006 by the Rt. Rev. Henry Louttit in the Diocese of Georgia. He has most recently served as the Curate of Christ’s Church in Rye, New York, one of the oldest Episcopal parishes in the United States.
He produces an online video series, entitled “Father Matthew Presents,” which shares the treasures of Christianity one light-hearted video at a time. He is now canonically resident in the Diocese of New York and is an Associate Rector of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Manhattan.
